16 years of age minimum or

Eligibility

No tongue or face piercing.

No visible tattoos.

No acrylic nails.

No drugs or alcohol use allowed at any time while representing the dental program.

Plan on being employed in a job related field (this includes continuing your education) soon after completion.

Must attend class during your assigned time, even if you belong to another district and your school is out of session.

If you are pregnant, you must have a note from your doctor giving you permission to take xrays, perform CPR, and work with the chemicals in the lab using protective equipment.

Books - (Adults) Purchase books online once you receive an acceptance letter. You must order the complete set of three books from the vendor online. No books are available for purchase on site.

Uniforms - (Adults) Ceil Blue. You have the option of purchasing scrubs through HUSD. The cost of the uniforms is $40.00 per uniform, money order only.

Meet the Instructors

Barbara Bonner
Director, HUSD RDA Program
She began her career in 1976 as a ROP student and quickly began working as a dental assistant. She has 15 years experience working as a registered dental assistant and office manager. She attended Cal Poly Pomona to obtain her Designated Subjects CTE Teaching Credential. In 1992, she started the dental assisting program in Hesperia, helping it become an RDA program and a State Model Program. She has been on the State Dental Board consultant reviewing perspective dental programs as a dental site specialist.
Susan Dahn
Instructor
She graduated from the ROP Dental Assisting class in 1980 and earned her RDA license in 1982. Worked in the industry from 1980 to 1994 where she held dental assisting, RDA, and office manager positions. She attended Cal Poly Pomona to obtain her Designated Subjects CTE Teaching Credential. She began teaching in 1994. She was honored with the teacher of the year in 2013 from San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools and HUSD. She is the President of the California Association of Dental Assisting Teachers (CADAT). Her favorite part of teaching is seeing her students employed at local dental offices.
