Due to COVID safety precautions Hesperia Adult School programs will continue to offer both small group on campus support and Distance Learning options through May 27, 2021.  Hesperia Adult School staff and teachers are available for student support services by phone, email, via  scheduled Zoom sessions and on campus in small groups by appointment following health, social distancing and safety guidelines.  Masks are required. Please wear your personal face covering both your nose and mouth. Bring identification, pen/pencil and your email address to appointments, registration and testing assessment sessions. Guests and children will not be allowed on campus. Hand sanitizer is provided in all offices, classrooms and entry areas. Temperature scans may be completed.  Thank you for helping us to provide programs and services. Last day of the Spring term is May 27, 2021 and we will be closed for the summer break returning on campus in the fall!

Enrollment begins on  July 19, 2021 at 8:00 AM.

Starting July 19, 2021 the enrollment applications may  be completed online or printed and dropped off to the black drop box located outside of the Adult Education office door or emailed to ADULTREGISTRATION@HESPERIAUSD.ORG

Students will be placed into classes as seats are available.

  

High School Diploma students must obtain "sealed official" transcripts from previous schools attended for transcript evaluation and enrollment.   Adults ages 18 and older can earn a High School Diploma by completing standard coursework as required by the California Department of Education.  Adult Education High School Diploma classes are free.  Online enrollment form is at the top of this page.

GED Preparation, English As A Second Language or Citizenship Preparation classes do not require transcripts. GED, ESL and Citizenship Prep classes are free. Online enrollment form is at the top of this page.

Instructors are credentialed teachers who are registered and approved by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.

Hesperia Adult School has successfully provided a variety of on campus, online, independent study and distance learning educational programs for many years.  During Distance Learning our adult students utilize their personal devices to interact with their instructors during live sessions, complete program materials, review and utilize their textbooks and workbooks, complete projects and supplemental resources.  Online learning resources such as Odysseyware, Nextgen Aztec, GED Flash and/or Side by Side Interactive Activities are active by using issued usernames and passwords.  While Distance Learning our teachers contact with their students during scheduled live class sessions each week to provide distance learning opportunities which may include virtual Zoom sessions will be in contact via email and conference calls.  Student support and small group sessions are available on campus by appointment. Masks are required until further notice. Social distancing guidelines are in effect.

PearsonVue (GED and Industry Testing) and  Adult Education CASAS testing sessions (Assessments, Pre Test and Post Testing) will be completed by prescheduled appointment following all implemented health, social distancing and safety guidelines.  Masks are required until further notice.

GRADUATION CEREMONY
Great news!  We will be holding a regional graduation ceremony with all Adult Schools in the high desert.  Come by the Hesperia Adult School office or call (760) 244-1771 x 5113 for details.  Graduates from both  2019/2020 and 2020/2021 are invited to participate.

Graduates:

Come by the Hesperia Adult School office to order your cap, gown, tassel and sash.  Grads must confirm your participation by May 27 at 2 PM.   $55 cash or money order only. Please bring exact change. No checks are accepted.  Cap and gown orders are accepted

Monday - Thursday  8 AM to 2 PM starting on April 28.  

Last day to order caps and gowns and confirm your participation is May 27 at 2 PM 

Capacity is limited. Tickets are required. Limit of 2 guests per graduate. (Infants and children count as guests and each person needs a ticket.)  The event will not be open to the public.  COVID precautions,  screening, use of face coverings and social distancing guidelines are in effect.

The ceremony will be live streamed on the internet!

GED Test Preparation

GED Preparation classes are designed to help students prepare for the State of California GED Exam.

Live GED Prep offers scheduled "on campus in person" instructor led classes that focus on improving skills in GED  English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies.  Social distancing guidelines are in effect.

 

A GED Prep study guide will be provided to each student covering all subject areas of the GED exam.

Students have the opportunity to complete a GED Practice Test during as part of the class.

GED Prep classes are free. 

 

 

Unlimited access to online Odysseyware curriculum 24 hours a day / 7 days a week using your personal internet based computer or laptop at home or any where you have internet access. Online.  Flexibility to work at your own pace to accommodate changing work schedules.  Minimum number of lessons must be completed each week to progress skill level and earn units. No textbooks are required. Weekly check in

with teachers is required online.

The online Odysseyware curriculum is individualized to your skill level as you progress through the program. Program focuses on improving skills in GED  English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies. 

Classes are instructor supported during virtual office hours, via email, system messaging and via scheduled live appointment sessions. Students have the opportunity to complete a GED Practice Test as part of the class.

GED Testing

Hesperia Adult School is an approved GED Testing site.

Important info:

 

Our test center is closed for summer break.

Please check GED.com for other testing locations.  Our center will reopen in August.

 

GED testing is by appointment only.

When registering on GED.com search for test centers near zip code 92345.

Examinees must be at least 17 years and 10 months to take the GED test. Note:  GED will not mail the official GED Certificate until the student is age 18.

Social distancing, health and safety guidelines are in effect at all test centers.  Hand sanitizer is provided.   Stations are cleaned between sessions.

Classes are designed for  adult students who wish to  increase English literacy  skills and/or  prepare to take the U.S. Citizenship exam.

Assessments are held in Room 6.   Assessment sessions may be scheduled  by appointment. Social distancing requirements, health and safety guidelines are in effect. Hand sanitizer is available.
